What’s on in Akaroa 1st – 7th February

Waitangi Day Commemorations
Location: Okains Bay from 10am
The Okains Bay Maori and Colonial museum is set once again to commemorate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on the 6th of February. This annual event is one of the best Waitangi Day celebrations in the South Island.
Highlights include a powhiri (traditional welcome), hangi lunch, children’s races, spot prizes and the paddling of the magnificent waka on the Opara Stream at 4pm.
The Museum also gives you the chance to step back in time with their working displays. Experience the heat of the blacksmiths forge, the smell of freshly baked bread from a traditional clay oven and skill of the sheep shearers.
Prices Adults $10, children $2

Akaroa golf club – Twilight golf
Location: Akaroa Golf club
Twilight 12 hole golf is happening every Tuesday until daylight savings finishes at the Akaroa Golf Club. This weekly event is open to both visitors and members. Tee off is between 4:00 – 4:45 pm. If you need someone to team up with please arrive at 4pm. The competition fee is $5 for member and $10 for Visitors.

Live Music
Location: The Hill Top Tavern
The Hilltop Tavern is the home of live music on Banks Peninsula and this week is no exception.

Crooked Weather
7:30pm Friday night sees the UK duo ‘Crooked Weather‘ stop by on their national tour to perform original folk songs.

Mana Whanau
8:30pm Saturday ‘Mana Whanau‘ a ten piece band from Christchurch play their unique reggae roots flavoured sounds.
